Christmas with a Purpose

Together with The Lost Food Project, four food and beverage outlets are doing their part to make Christmas more meaningful.

PETALING JAYA: It’s that time of the year again, often touted as the merriest, when many gather with dear ones to feast on scrumptious food, celebrate the milestones of the year past, and raise a glass to the brand-new year ahead.

Yet, for many others, life is still a struggle. With barely enough money to pay for the roof over their heads, they can only look forward to yet another meagre meal that will help stamp out their hunger for maybe an hour or two.

To that end, The Lost Food Project (TLFP), a non-profit organisation that aims to “feed the hungry, not the landfill”, is collaborating with four food and beverage outlets during the holiday season so you can enjoy the festivities and support a good cause at the same time.

When you visit any of the four outlets, a portion of the sales will be donated to TLFP.

Besides the funds they receive from this collaboration, TLFP “rescues” food by collecting surplus from manufacturers, supermarkets, wholesale markets, and other producers before redistributing them to charities, organisations and B40 households from People’s Housing Projects (PPR).

According to its 2021 impact report, since 2016, TLFP salvaged 2.8 million kg of food such as meat, seafood, rice, noodles and fresh vegetables.

Tapestry

With its brick walls and stunning Christmas decorations, Tapestry is a rustic and picturesque space to relax and enjoy a good lunch.

The eatery is offering the Christmas Charity Lunch Menu consisting of scrumptious pumpkin risotto; a refreshing Kiwi Bowl with green and gold kiwi, banana, and oat milk; and the Cranberry Pink Pepper Shrub, a delicious beverage with fresh cranberries and pink peppercorns.

And the best part? For any item ordered from this menu until Dec 31, RM5.00 will be donated to TLFP.

Fans of seafood will be delighted to dig into the luxurious Mibrasa-Grilled Fresh Boston Lobster with garlic compound butter.

Meat lovers too will be thrilled at the choices available – fragrant grilled lamb rack marinated with rosemary and cumin; sumptuous beef wellington, and juicy Ipoh spring chicken.
